Paulo Coelho has inspired Tarja Turunen to compose a new song called Outlanders. The song will be presented to the public for the first time at the Paulo Coelho Day. Mr Lauri Salovaara is interviewing Tarja Turunen at 12.30 and 2 pm. The song is about the secrecy of each exact moment, the importance of enjoying life as its full every day. The extracts are taken from Coelho’s books: Alkemisti, Piedrajoen rannalla istuin ja itkin and Elämä.Outlanders gave also the name for a new project of Tarja Turunen and the German producer Torsten Stenzel. The project has brought together people who have found their homes outside their native countries. Tarja now lives in Argentina, Torsten in the Caribbean, guest guitarist Walter Giardino was born in Argentina, but now lives in Spain. Paulo Coelho has also moved from his native country. Co-operation has created music, and the first song was named after the band, Outlanders.
Brazilian Paulo Coelho (b. 1947) best-known works include The Pilgrimage, The Alchemist and Eleven Minutes. Coelho’s books are published in 73 languages to 168 countries and has already sold over 135 000 000. The author was appointed as the UN’s peace envoy in 2007.

As a part of this, the young designer label NORDENFELDT will not only be providing clothes, accessoires and shoes for Tarja, but also design an exclusive stage outfit for her next album artwork.
Tarja who is famous for her voice and her combination of various music styles, is also a fashion icon. Tarja fascinates especially on stage with her elegant, but also extravagant clothes.
“Music is the main part of my performance, but every musician knows that there is also visual part of music, especially on stage. I am always trying to find clothes for this visual aspect that are special, but that also represent me and my style. Therefore NORDENFELDT fits perfectly.“The young design label NORDENFELDT, founded by German-Finnish designer Julia Trompert, wants to provide functional, though fashionable clothes that combine a strong sense of creativity, innovation and strive for the ideal.
With their first collections the label got attention from various media and the fashion scene. The focus of NORDENFELDT is to embody armour for the city by recapturing the essence of mythical Nordic era. The designer explains the decision for the collaboration with Tarja: “Next to being an incredible artist, Tarja Turunen embodies the mysterious aura and the style of our designs. She needs wearable outfits, especially on stage, that still look elegant and have an extravagant twitch. That is exactly what NORDENFELDT wants to create for its customers.”
The creation of an outfit for the singer was also an inspiration for the designer.“Creating fashion is an on-going process. You can get input from every aspect in your life. When Tarja asked us to design an outfit for her, my answer was a straight “yes” and the ideas came immediately; we only had to take the necessities into consideration that arise when she will be performing in that outfit.”

Tarja is the only Finnish artist ever to achieve a Gold Record in Germany, both in a band and as solo artist.
During this Summer, Tarja performed for 250.000 people is Samara, Russia. She headlined festivals in Serbia, Germany, Romania and played before Metallica in France.In the meantime while she is composing her new rock album and getting ready to record her first classical album, Tarja performed in Finland at the Savonlinna Opera Festival with Tenor José Cura and joined The Scorpions on stage in Saimaa Open Air.

A few years ago, in 2006, a new project from Tarja was born and, following the same tradition, the time has come to baptize it, to make the presentations to the family and to give it a name – HARUS.HARUS is a rather peculiar, uncommon Finnish word that describes the four tensors that keep a tent together or the tensor that keeps the mast from falling in a sailing boat.
Both of the meanings apply to this musicians line up: four members, four equals, four different backgrounds to tie together exquisite classical music developed strongly and in a very stable way, with a taste of experimental, modern feel.
The ever-changing waters HARUS sails on promise a unique feeling and combination for each program.

“Rock in Rio is one of the biggest festivals and happenings in the world still today. It has been amazing to follow the stunning list of great performers in this event in the past.
I am very delighted and happily surprised about the invitation I got from Angra to take part of their performance in Rio this year. It´s an honour for me and a lot of fun. I am sure that our fans will be excited about this collaboration, as we both parties are as well. I have known the guys from Angra for few years already and worked closely with Kiko Loureiro, so it’s nice to make this thing happen.
As this is not my own show, we are starting now to check with the guys what songs will be both interesting and challenging for us to perform together. But for sure you can expect some surprises !

Soprano Tarja Turunen will perform a unique Christmas tour 2010 with well-known Finnish musicians – Kalevi Kiviniemi, Marzi Nyman and Markku Krohn.They will perform in churches in Oulu, Lahti, Kuopio, Pori and Keuruu. The Artistic Director of the concerts is Kalevi Kiviniemi and the concerts are organized by Rowan3 Productions. The tickets are on pre-sale in Menolippu, Lippupalvelu and Tiketti.
TARJA, KALEVI, MARZI & MARKKU
Tarja Turunen has studied classical singing and church music at Sibelius Academy in Kuopio and in a music university in Karlsruhe, Germany. She was the lead singer in Nightwish between 1996 and 2005. After that she started her solo career stronger than ever and an intimate Christmas theme was a success for Turunen, who recorded the Christmas album “Henkäys ikuisuudesta” in 2006. The album was produced by Esa Nieminen and it sold platinum in Finland. Tarja’s first international solo album, My Winter Storm, was released in November 2007 and achieved gold status in Finland on the day of the release. The album was number 1 in the Finnish charts and sold platinum in Finland. My Winter Storm also achieved gold in Hungary, Russia and in the Czech Republic. Tarja’s second solo album ‘What Lies Beneath’ has been also released worldwide in September 2010. As a solo artist Tarja has made many tours in Europe, America and in South America with her band. She also made an appearance at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and in the Finnish National Opera. She has also performed live in chamber music concerts worldwide.
Concert organist Kalevi Kiviniemi (b. 1958) is one of the internationally most active Finnish instrumental musicians. He has performed in most European countries, Russia, Japan, the Philippines, Australia, and the United States as a concert and recording artist. He has served as a jury member in many international organ competitions and given masterclasses. Kalevi Kiviniemi was the Artistic Director of the Lahti Organ Festival for ten years between 1991 and 2001. As a recording artist, Kalevi Kiviniemi’s recordings exceed 140 records. The recording venues have included important organs in Finland as well as historical instruments in the USA, Japan, the Philippines, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany. Kalevi Kiviniemi has also received several awards in recognition of his remarkable work in the field of organ culture.Marzi Nyman is a Finnish guitarist, who has become famous due to several TV shows in Finland. He has played with numerous groups, for example as a band mate of Lenni-Kalle Taipale, Iiro Rantala new trio, UMO Jazz Orchestra and Nylon Beat.
As a percussion artist of Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Markku Krohn has become a well- known classical musician in Finland. He has studied music for example in the Graz International Bilingual School. After 20 years in Finnish music scene Markku gave his best performances with the Tapiola Sinfonietta at the beginning of THE 90′s and at the Spanish Nights of Granada in Alhambra palace in 1998.

THE NEW Tarja single, ‘Falling Awake’, will be released in the UK on July 19th as a vinyl 10” via Spinefarm Records UK and www.tarjaturunen.com web shop.This highly collectible format will be limited to 1000 copies, all of them pressed onto ‘marbled’ vinyl & numbered by hand, and will be available exclusively from online retailer What Records www.whatrecords.co.uk and www.tarjaturunen.com web shop. www.tarja-whatliesbeneath.com will soon be upgraded from a blog to the new album’s micro site including a free track download to be announced.‘Falling Awake’ is the first track to be released from the forthcoming Tarja outing, ‘What Lies Beneath’ – the second full album beneath the ‘Tarja’ banner, the follow up to 2007’s ‘My Winter Storm’.The version of the track in the vinyl differs from the one that will appear on ‘What Lies Beneath’ in that it features a special guest appearance from Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Jason Hook. The album will include a guest appearance of Tarja in the song “The Good Die Young” that has been also chosen for the first single from the album and will be available starting February 26th.
After the release of the album and a three-year mammoth tour, which will take the Scorpions across five continents, the band will end its career. The group broke the news on its web site last month.
“It is such an honor to be invited to take part in the Scorpions last album. I received a phone call from Klaus that was very kind to extend the band’s wishes to have me performing one of their songs. I was not aware it was going to be their last recordings until they announce it, so I have mixed feeling of happiness and bit of sadness too when I got the news. I can only thank them for the invitation and for letting me be a part of their last effort as a band. I am sure they will keep this particular album in their hearts the same way the fans and I will do”Tarja

Finnish brightest stars are interpreting Christmas songs on the “Most beautiful Christmas songs” album that is going to be released on 18.11 only in Finland. The artists are Tarja Turunen, Jari Sillanpää, Irina, Veeti Kallio, Maria Lund and Mikko Kuustonen. Artists perform traditional Christmas songs as new versions with Olli Ahvenlahti´s acoustic orchestra and Cantores Minores choir accompaniment.- Read more...Lue lisää...Mehr lesen...Leer más...The most beautiful Christmas songs is a collaboration between Universal Music and 150- years old Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission. The Mission started an event called “The most beautiful Christmas songs” in Finnish parishes in 1973. These singing events have been enormous success through out the years in Finland. In the middle of the busy times of Christmas, over one million Finnish citizens are going to these events to sing and seek for peace and silence from the first advent until the Christmas.
Part of the profit of the album goes to Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission Christmas fundraising, which is in this year supporting girls and women and their education in Nepal. The education of women is one of the greatest ways to fight against the poverty in Nepal.
The concert for the most beautiful Christmas songs is held on December, Friday 11th in Kallio´s church Helsinki. Veeti Kallio, Tarja Turunen, Jari Sillanpää and Mikko Kuustonen will perform with Olli Ahvenlahti´s acoustic orchestra and Cantores Minores- choir accompaniment. The concert will be broadcasted on TV2, 25.12.

Concert organist Kalevi Kiviniemi (b. 1958) is one of the internationally most active Finnish instrumental musicians. He has performed in most European countries, Russia, Japan, the Philippines, Australia and the United States as a concert and recording artist. He has served as a jury member in many international organ competitions and given masterclasses. Kalevi Kiviniemi was the Artistic Director of the Lahti Organ Festival for ten years between 1991 and 2001. As a recording artist, Kalevi Kiviniemi’s recordings exceed a hundred records. The recording venues have included important organs in Finland as well as historical instruments in the USA, Japan, the Philippines, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany. Kalevi Kiviniemi has also received several awards in recognition of his remarkable work in the field of organ culture.
Marzi Nyman is a Finnish guitarist, who has become famous due to several tv shows in Finland. He has played with numerous groups, for example as a band mate of Lenni-Kalle Taipale, Iiro Rantala new trio, UMO Jazz Orchestra and Nylon Beat.
As a percussion artist of Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Markku Krohn has become a well-known classical musician in Finland. He has studied music for example in the Graz International Bilingual School. After 20 years in Finnish music scene Markku gave his best performaces with the Tapiola Sinfonietta at the beginning of the 90′s and at the Spanish Nights of Granada in Alhambra palace in 1998.

Gala Concert commemorating the 200th anniversary of the separation between Sweden and Finland in 1809.
In 1809 Finland and Sweden were divided into two countries, after having had a common history since the 12th century. Commemorating this event, the Swedish and Finnish governments have announced Märkesåret 1809 – a project to further reinforce the feeling of community between the countries and remind us of their common ties. Both countries have much in common culturally, which is being celebrated in a number of ways during the course of the year. Berwaldhallen is hosting a GALA EVENING with star performers from Finland and Sweden in a musical revue that features everything from Sibelius and Hugo Alfvén to Finnish tango and modern popular hits.
The concert will be broadcasetd live in SVT1, SVT HD and YLE.

TARJA TURUNEN SIGNING DEAL WITH UNIVERSAL MUSIC
TARJA TURUNEN, the exceptionally gifted singer, has signed to Universal Music on an exclusive worldwide basis. Tarja rose to prominence as the voice and the face of Finnish outfit Nightwish, with her unique tones and striking stage presence having played a key role in the international success of that band. Tarja is now ideally placed to take her solo career to a whole new level, both in terms of musical ambition and personal profile; to this end, the 29-year-old – originally from the Finnish town of Kitee – is currently working on her first recordings as a solo artist, with a studio deep in the Irish countryside the initial home for these sessions – a studio that has already played host to the likes of R.E.M., Michael Jackson and the Manic Street Preachers.
Tarja’s debut single, ‘I Walk Alone’, is being lined up for a mid of October release, with the full album, ‘My Winter Storm’, due to follow on November 9th. Both the single and the album are being produced by Daniel Presley (Faith No More, Jewel, The Breeders), who has been joined in the studio by a truly stellar line-up of musicians: Doug Wimbish on bass (Living Colour, Annie Lennox, Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck, Madonna, Rolling Stones), Alex Scholpp on electric guitars (Farmer Boys) and Earl Harvin on drums (Seal, Pet Shop Boys, Air), a player personally selected by Tarja after she saw him stealing the show at a Seal concert. Keyboards & programming, meanwhile, are being provided by Torsten Stenzel, whose previous credits include Nelly Furtado, Moby, Tina Turner, Vanessa Mae and more.
Throughout her career, Tarja has managed to achieve that most difficult of tasks – seamlessly joining worlds that, at first glance, would appear to be poles apart; in this case, Metal & Opera. Could these two ever really stand shoulder to shoulder without one diluting the other? Well… not only did the soprano singer drive herself to achieve the perfect balance, with hits such as ‘Nemo’ storming the international charts, but in doing so she helped to create a style that is currently exerting a huge influence on the Rock & Metal scene.
Released in 2004, the highly-acclaimed ‘Once’ was Tarja’s last studio outing – an album that rose to the top of the charts around the world, from Mexico through to the European Billboard lists; the record picked up platinum awards in Germany & Finland, and turned gold right across Scandinavia, as well as in Brazil, Austria, Switzerland, Greece & Hungary.
I terms of vocal training, Tarja started this (ongoing) journey at the age of six, and in due course she was accepted at the world famous Music University, the Sibelius Academy in Kuopio. It was here that she developed what has genuinely become a signature style, achieving an emotional connection with the listener that transcends language, location or musical type. Whether as a soloist with the Finnish National Opera, performing a concert in a church, or holding the gaze of 20,000 rock fans in arenas around the world, Tarja Turunen is a singing phenomenon. As simple as that.
And now, of course, she’s pursuing a solo career, taking a musical path that (in terms of direction, variety & scope) should keep her existing fanbase happy, whilst at the same time reaching out to a wider audience. Anyone who likes their music dark of spirit, dramatic in intent and shot through with giant slabs of melody will find plenty to interest them here, and as always, Tarja is pulling out all of the stops…
